Within this site, you will find photos, results and cycling stories along with all the brevet and randonneuring info for the start of each ride organized in the years 2001 until 2005. Rides were organized by Diane Goodwin, the creator and founder of the NJ Randonneurs. NJ Randonneurs offers rides throughout the Northease including New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York City.
With the help of Jennifer Wise, founder of RUSA (Randonneurs USA), the name was chosen. Sandiway Fong and Chris Pile were the first two cyclists offering to volunteer to create a full series, 200K, 300K, 400K and 600K, along with some Populaires. Leroy and Edith Varga were the first official "day of brevet" volunteers who so many participants enjoyed and relied upon to complete their first brevets. Tom Rosenbauer, now PA Randonneur organizer, contributed to the series, along with his wife, Becky, to create the hilliest and most unforgettable 600K. Diane Goodwin was fortunate enough to have Laurent Chambard come abroad - and on board - as a mentor after Sandiway Fong moved to Arizona to pursue his dream (professional dream that is, we all know he dreams about cycling continuously) as a professor at University of Tuscan.
Two other names to add to the list are Nate Morgenstern and Kyle Chu - both NJ residents. Nate became our "star" rider and always a mentor, as he is phenomenal in climbing and completing these long distance events in the front - well, the first finisher, taking Sandiway's title. Kyle Chu, like Leroy and Edith, was a volunteer "at a moment's notice." Most notably was the 600K when he told the organizer, Diane Goodwin, to "just call anytime, even midnight, and I'll come out to SAG."
The series has always been a success ... due to the dedication and love of cycling of Diane Goodwin .... the volunteers are a long list and are duely notead in this site. Come back for updates .... and please, continue to support Tom Rosenbauer and Leroy Varga on the NJ and now, PAseries'.

NYC Commuting News: Morning commutes and NYC brevet series using George Washington Bridge (GWB) are being affected by Port Authority's new construction schedule. Changes will be in effect from Sept 2005 until June 2006. Click for details. The photo above was taken on my first commute over the NORTH SIDE of GWB. WARNING: Bring rubber soled shoes - climbing and carrying your bike can be dangerous in road shoes. Here is the schedule from (www.panynj.org).
